The Book Report by Rebecca Traver - Our Online Bookshop Curator

“Autumn begins unnoticed.
Nights slowly lengthen,

and little by little, clear winds turn colder and colder,
summer’s blaze giving way.
My thatch hut grows still.

At the bottom stair, in bunchgrass, lit dew shimmers.”
~Meng Hao-Jan, from The Way of Ch'an

Books for Young Readers + the People Who Love Them

The Golden Acorn by Katy Hudson proves that winning isn’t everything in this energetic picture book about friendship, teamwork, and forgiveness.

Eat Up, Bear! from Terry Pierce with illustrations by Nadja Sarell shows us that curious, hungry bears just want to eat! Juicy berries, crunchy nuts, tender grubs, and sticky honey are all yummy options. But if park visitors and their families aren’t careful, their food will become bear food, too! Perfect for first-time and seasoned campers alike.

I Want to Be Spaghetti! by Kiera Wright-Ruiz, illustrated by Claudia Lam is a funny picture book about how one little ramen packet finds self-love and belonging in a spaghetti-obsessed world.
