If we begin to walk softly now, we may erase our footprints.
In many places September is a beautiful month; warmth still defines the days but not as intensely as it can during Summer. And though the change of seasons may be less obvious in moderate climes such as Santa Barbara, it is still unmistakable. There is coolness in the air that is distinctly Fall. We begin an inward journey exploring the world of the self where we find our connection to all things. During the month of Virgo we have particular facility to further our investigation in which we recognize a desire to soften our edges that we might ease our interaction and integration with all aspects of our environment.
What will help us walk more softly? Simply by caring for our children with the attention we all desire and caring for each other with the attention we all desire. Virgo attends to the self as a perfect being—in harmony, in peace. That which does not serve the highest good or the ultimate goal of self awareness eventually does not get attention. Only love of self allows us the attention we crave. All cravings desist. We are children once again—pure and simple love.
This month it is easier to turn our attention to nurturing, compassion and service. With everything taking place on the planet it is beneficial to have awareness of the abundance of grace that is available to us simultaneously. The message for this month is to be prepared; to have a deeper understanding of what is asked of us at this time as we make an effort to bring everything into balance. Come 11/11/11 when Mars transits into Virgo and Uranus retrogrades to zero degrees Aries, the inconjunct that is formed will cause us to take a look at how we utilize our resources—meaning our innate wisdom. The precarious balance which we presently experience will really test our faith and trust. It will be our faith and trust in Self that ultimately turns the tide. We will accomplish this together as a community—in love.
When the gate is opened in order to go with the flow but not be submerged in the deluge, it behooves us to be prepared on all levels—physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. To accomplish this we are receiving an enormous amount of help from great beings for whom the human race and this planet are precious. If we could just feel for an instant just how precious we are we might give our selves this same attention. All abuse would desist.
In the Tarot, the Hermit, IX, is associated with the astrological sign Virgo. It is a slightly mysterious card as the Hermit chooses to remain in the shadow whilst his light illuminates the path of wisdom. The Hermit is an old soul who has gathered wisdom from many lifetimes of experience. He has reached the peak of a cycle and now guides others to attain these heights. There are many old souls amongst us, visionaries who guide with a soft and gentle spirit all those who are prepared to listen and choose the path of wisdom.
In the past, the visionaries may have been harshly dealt with and so adapted themselves to living in the shadows—hiding and fearful of the consequences of revealing their knowing. Fear cannot be the motivation for silence. There are times to speak and times to remain silent. This is a time to speak from the heart and to be heard.
Virgo may be the oldest of the astrological signs and is often associated with the great Mother Goddesses—Isis, Ishtar, Ceres/Demeter and Mother Mary who bears the Child in her arms. It is in this sign that Christ consciousness is conceived and nurtured until it is given birth in the sign of Pisces. In the chart for 11/11/11, Chiron the great healer moves again into the sign of Pisces in exact aspect to Uranus and Mars, all at zero degrees—0—the unbroken cycle of human existence; we have an opportunity to rise, to be empowered (the Black Moon Lilith is also at 0 degrees of Taurus) and to re-access the heart in a way that allows for intimate interaction between all things earthly. This is possible! Not just for a few, but for many.
