“Everywhere you look today — at the environment, our political and social structures, the world economy, religion, science and technology — you will see a world preparing itself for a leap in consciousness. ”
~ Richard Rudd, from the introduction to Gene Keys
As March approached and I looked at my list of remaining tarot cards and their corresponding signs and houses, I wondered how The Tower could possibly relate to spring, the new moon in Aries and the 1st house.
Well, seeing how current events have been transpiring, the Tower now seems a very fitting card. The Corona Virus is shaking things up in a powerful way; and at the moment we appear to be experiencing a collective, worldwide multi-infrastructural “Tower Moment”.
“The Tower is about drastic change, shocking turns of fate and unexpected disturbances. To call its arrival a surprise is typically an understatement. All you thought was stable and sure is suddenly in turmoil.”
The Tower | A Global Transformation and Evolution
The tower card in the tarot is a powerful reminder of letting go of the old so that our hands can be open for the new. Usually it is something that we have known has needed to change, have wanted and prayed to change, and yet when it arrives it is rarely something our personality and ego/mind selves appreciate.
Even so, it has been my experience, that no matter how difficult or painful the letting go, once I have actually released (by choice or not) what was no longer serving me, what’s coming in on the other side of the Tower is always so much better than my tiny little ego mind could possibly imagine.
Could it be that the virus and the subsequent “new normal” until it passes have offered (or rather forced) the opportunity to transform our financial and political structures?
Andrew Yang, former Presidential candidate, just thanked President Trump for his goal to put $1,000.00 in the hands of every American in the next few weeks due to the financial impacts of the situation, which reminds Andrew Yang of the Universal Basic Income program he proposed during his campaign. And he encouraged the president to continue the payments beyond this emergency situation and offered to help with the process in any way.
Could this amazing opportunity for transformation we are experiencing also make moot the argument over Universal Healthcare in the US and simply establish it?
“The destruction of our Tower is caused by all the places where we are not impeccable with our word. Our lies to self and others will eventually lead to drama and chaos.”
~ Heather Ash Amara, Toltec Tarot
The Tower | A Hidden Helper
Perhaps this tower experience is bringing to us an opportunity to work together as a whole, in a whole new way. As a nation have been stuck in bipartisan politics and polarized by extreme politicians and news coverage; this crisis has pulled us out of that quagmire.
The hesitation to take action due to the need to protect political status has ended up tarnishing that status with charges of politics & money’s importance over public health…if those who held back the numbers and information to save the reputation of the incumbent president had acted sooner, perhaps things might be different now.
And who is to say they should be different? I tend to believe that things are happening exactly how they should even if it could have been different. Hindsight is always 20/20 and yet if we spend too much time looking back, all we find is blame in the form of would haves, could haves and should haves…and why the heck would we want to be “should-ing” all over ourselves?
It seems to me this catalytic situation is stopping us in our tracks, forcing us to slow down and step out of the frenetic “Just Do It” culture and into a “Just Be It” series of moments.
Here are two links to two beautiful messages regarding an alternative perspective of this virus as a helper for humanity, as an agent of evolution and love:

Looking Ahead with Care and Compassion
As a world, a nation, and ultimately as a species, it is time to shift into another way of being on and with this planet. For so long we have been fighting over outdated resources that we have already found alternatives for; it is time to prepare to clean up the messes we’ve made with all these wars fighting over resources!
I’ve long believed, since I was teenager in the mid to late 1980s when we crossed the line of population sustainability for our planet, that eventually, as a species, we will eventually re-purpose all the structures and human power we have had in place to support war and greed for cleaning up the messes we have made with all this war and greed.
“2020 is, in astrological terms, a very defining year. A challenging one. A year that asks us to consciously reshape our collective structures. One that makes clear that true abundance is knowing everyone is taken care of and real prosperity puts the well-being and healing of all.”
~ Chani Nicholas, Astrologer, Oprah Magazine
It is fascinating to see how the Universe works; I am in a constant state of wonder at it all. The Corona Virus along with the technology to watch it spread throughout the world in real time is changing our world forever.
Seeing it spread through the world at a fantastic rate and being part of consciously slowing it down via social distancing (and slowing ourselves down), it is as if we are watching everything we have ever known change.
How do we feel safe in the unknown that is unfolding during this change? Once we come to the conclusion that the Universe is a good place, then we must trust, and have faith that everything is not only unfolding exactly as it should, but that the Universe also has the highest and best intentions for all involved.
“I will forever be vulnerable,
To forces beyond my control,
They remind me to live my purpose,
Before it’s time to go.”
We cannot control anything, we only imagined as we navigated our lives with 401k plans and schedules, jobs, schools and family plans, that we knew what would happen next and have some semblance of control over it.
It is times like these that remind us that we are actually in/part of a flow and a reality bigger than our own personal reality. And what we can do, (are really being forced to do, with social containment and quarantine) is to just stop, and since we’re here, stopped, let’s consciously breath into the present moment and remember:
Remember who we are, and that there are others here with us and around the world, and we are all in this together; remember to be kind and gentle with ourselves and with others. Remember what all of the great spiritual teachers have reminded us from their own times…we are here to love.
Right Speech | The Power of Your Words
A good friend reminded me recently to pay attention to what I was saying about the world and the things that are happening right now and I realized that I had been simply repeating what I had been hearing & reading from others, rather than consciously reframing.
I often see things on more than one level, hear beyond what is being said and yet I can find myself unconsciously following along, at least for a little while, until I realize that my reality is different and has the opportunity to support and influence the collective for the good of all.
“The quality of the speech is considered to be the quality of the life’s essence and creative existence. The Peh [Pei] teaches us to view our words as precious as gold, not to be spilled haphazardly.”
And so I have remembered to watch the words that come out of my mouth and use them for good in the world…if only we all realized how powerful our words are and what we are creating together!
“…What we say becomes real. Our words create reality, and we must use them with great care. In modern parlance, this idea is called “the power of affirmation” — saying something out loud engraves it in our minds, and we do things to bring it about, or it affects the people who hear it. Being in control of what you say can change the course of your life, and the life of everyone connected to you.”
This is why I consciously re-frame the negative while including the positive as an integral part of my tarot reading. We need to acknowledge and move through the difficulties in life, to take the time to feel and move through all the emotions inherent in a specific situation, AND we must also move forward with the best positive navigation tool, and that is with the healed, the whole, heart.
When we take conscious responsibility for our perspectives along with the words that come out of our mouths, we affect our lives and the lives of those around us. And the kinder we are to ourselves, the kinder we are to others; from this place we can access the wholeness of our heart and the healing in our lives to follow our own path forward, based on who we choose to be.
The Wounded Healer: Chiron
The first new moon of the spring occurs on March 24th. In Aries, the sign of the self, and conjunct Chiron (a minor planet named after the Greek god of healers and teachers), the new moon reminds us of the importance of addressing our pain and suffering.
“Chiron’s myth tells the story of a powerful healer who is wounded but cannot heal that wound. Chiron teaches us that we are not above the suffering that we encounter, we are not above the vulnerability of being human, we are not above how fragile the web of life really is.”
~ Chani Nicholas, Astrologer, Oprah Magazine [LINKED]
My mind’s highest and best use is in service to my heart; feeling and knowing, instinctively, my way through this situation must balance the need to think my way through. I trust in the inimitable power of the human heart and our ability to rise to any occasion to love and serve more.
“…our current scientific understanding of the universe is changing rapidly and radically, and the picture that is emerging is nothing short of mind shattering. Quantum physics shows us that everything we see in the universe appears to be reflected in everything else in the universe. The mind itself, enmeshed as it is with the very stuff of the cosmos, can no longer be relied upon for objective reasoning.”
~ Richard Rudd, from the introduction to Gene Keys
As a part of this transformation, watching the changes happening out in the world, I can’t help but think that it’s all a reflection of what is happening inside myself, inside each one of us. This is where the 1st House in astrology comes in to the story.
Finding Yourself in the First House
I recommend, if you haven’t already, that you go to http://www.astro.com and get a free copy of your astrological chart. Just enter your information (first name, date, place and time of birth) and you will instantly get a chart of where the planets, houses and astrological signs were in the sky when you were born.
From this you can take a look at what’s happening in your 1st house and it will give you some indication of the spiritual story you are living out in this lifetime specifically regarding who you came to be here at this time.
“The First House speaks to the realization of one’s ultimate potential. This process of becoming a unique individual is one of the greatest contributions we make to the world in which we live.”
“The First House represents the body you were born with, your physical appearance, and your general temperament. Since this is the first stop in the cycle, when planets in the sky transit into this house, our goals are manifested, and new projects, ideas, or perspectives finally take form.”
With all that’s going on in the world right now, it is a good thing to look at who we are and why we chose to be here. Because if we don’t know the answer to those questions yet, this is a wonderful opportunity to begin the search; we certainly have the time for it!
I was lucky enough, in the aftermath of a powerful Tower Moment during period of unraveling of the old and reintegration of the new to wake one morning with my own personal prime directive, spoken in my head in the royal “We”:
“We are here to Love
And to Be Loved
And to change the very definition of Love
For ourselves, humanity, the planet and all of Creation.”
~ My Higher Self
No small task , and yet, it has become my North Star from which I navigate my life. As the entire world changes around me, as we as humans are changing how we define ourselves from what we do to survive to what we came here to be, I know where I stand and who I am and why I’m here.
And the more I stand here and Be something, the more opportunity the Universe has to show me what is next, where to go and what to do once I get there.
This virus and this powerful time of transformation we are all in is a part of the evolution of the planet and is happening, how much can I love myself and everyone else as we go through it together?
Maybe this is the interpretation of that expanding circle of “The Change” from my Phoenix Dream I had years ago during that powerful Tower Moment that propelled me to be in the place I am now for this one; that dream is in my very first article for the Paradise Found newsletter; linked here.
How about you? Where are the tower moments occurring in your own life? How do you choose to handle them?
“To all who are reading or hearing these words:
May your heart burst open in unconditional Love
May your mind be illuminated by infinite Peace
May your body be flooded by the light of your Essence.
May all whom you touch in this life
Through your thoughts, your words and your deeds
Be transformed by the Radiance of your Presence.”
~ Richard Rudd
