If you surrender to the wind, then you can ride it.
Tips for almanac use: All the aspects can be felt in advance of the occurrence. It is good policy to view these as due dates for various energies and prepare accordingly for your context. It’s akin to bringing an umbrella with you when rain is expected, but it also helps us to not take the weather personally. When we proactively manifest these symbols then the world doesn’t have to do it for us. Choose to be con(with)-siderate(the stars).

So, December… It promises lots of twists and turns and crucial forks in the road. It’s definitely asking us to take inventory of the blessings and tribulations of this past year and to see what wisdom we can further extract from the lot. But it’s also priming us and, more or less, launching us into next year. Particularly after the 14th, it’s basically time to start moving into new territory, whether we’re ready or not. So, before that, let’s get it together, and after that, let’s jump on board. It’s the change-train or potential pain: The choice is always somewhat ours. Be boldly rational.
Mars sextiles Saturn on the 1st at 11:00 am (pacific), bringing up many futuristic questions and issues. Are we shooting high while staying reasonable? Are we determined enough to take action towards manifesting these goals? The idea is to keep processing out old fear and doubt constructs and to have patience with developments.
Venus trines Jupiter on the 4th at 11:11 am (pacific), prompting us to set our sights rather high and into uncharted zones. If you’ve already done it, it’s not worth redoing it, unless an adequate twist is added for flavor. Dream up an adventure, savor the journey, and focus on the big wants for now.
The Sun trines Uranus on the 4th at 2:30 pm (pacific), lending a strange sense of urgency to the day. We may find ourselves longing for what is yet to come. Patience and staying open to goodness are the main ideas. Don’t hem yourself in with old views.
Mars moves into Aquarius on the 4th at 3:57 pm (pacific), where he will stay until January 12th. This will shift the momentum more towards group and social enterprises, getting the products/developments of the last month and a half out into the open. Connect with people and see how they reflect on your growth. Communalize.
Mercury trines Uranus on the 5th at 7:44 pm (pacific), lending an air of mental boredom if we don’t try something unusual and novel. Don’t let old programming and origin stories get in the way of new innovations. Delve into the flurries of potentiality.
The Full Moon is on the 6th at 4:27 am (pacific) in 14 degrees of Gemini. This lunation should be almost exciting, especially if we’ve been making strides in our various departments. Keep exploring the outer-reaches and keep releasing personal historical-narratives that hold us back. Pay attention to the intuition and proceed as if you knew what you were doing.
Mercury conjoins the Sun on the 8th at 1:51 am (pacific), urging us to realign the mind and the inner-self. This mostly relates to the last couple of months: making sense of it all and digesting the newness. The trick is to keep releasing personal-mythology to make way for the new and yet unseen. Get open, or stay open.
Jupiter stations retrograde on the 8th at 12:41 pm (pacific), starting us on the path to revision for all of our self-developments from the last 6 months. The trajectory of self should be looking quite different than it did in April and now is the time to start fine tuning the big picture. This still doesn’t mean details getting hammered out; it’s more about clearing the clutter from our lists and focusing more on the immediate-ish opportunities. The rest will come in due time.
Venus moves into Capricorn on the 10th at 8:42 am (pacific), where she will stay until January 3rd. This will help us get our acts together, especially regarding personal possessions and finances. It’s a perfect time for budgeting, organizing, purging, and generally streamlining. It’s also important that we’re working on things that bring us pleasure, or at least lighten our load. Stay balanced and keep on trucking.
Mercury trines Jupiter on the 12th at 3:24 am (pacific), opening our minds to big vistas. There are still many things to consider, and choices are not yet easy, but it would be wise to cross the trivial off our lists. Trim the tree of potentiality and leave room for more adjustments and revelations.
The Sun trines Jupiter on the 14th at 7:56 am (pacific), asking our heart to follow where our minds went a couple days back. This means checking in with our guts to see how these concepts make us feel. If you don’t reflect your inner you, then there will ultimately be confusion, so keep an eye on the barometer.
Venus sextiles Neptune on the 14th at 8:55 am (pacific), offering a chance to undo some confusions and, hopefully, relax. This whole year has been a lot to process and this is a chance to integrate on the deeper layers what cannot be easily understood from the surface. Stick to the fundamentals of what you really want to understand and go forth into the abyss with confidence.
Uranus squares Pluto on the 14th at 10:14 pm (pacific), forming the 6th of 7 squares between these two world changers (the last will be on March 16th.) This is as much a societal aspect as it is personal, but we can do our best to embrace our individual sparks and get past the collective/outside fears. Break through all the old and tired ways of doing things, and find a new working paradigm for the progression of our lives. The main point for this go around is to undo whatever it is in us that prevents us from going for gusto. Embrace the fear, and integrate it into positive action; it’s a natural force that benefits from harnessing.
Mercury moves into Capricorn on the 16th at 7:53 pm (pacific), where he will stay until January 4th. This is our chance to establish a more concrete to-do list, or is it to more concretely get rid of deadwood? Either way, functionality is the golden standard here: If it doesn’t work, move on to what does. Trim and win.
Mercury sextiles Neptune on the 20th at 1:31 am (pacific), asking us to let our minds drift into relaxation…or music, or a bath, or a swim, or meditation. We will have the urge to solve the quandaries of our beings, but it’s probably all best done on the back-burner of the mind, away from the either/or tendencies of thought. If anything, focus on letting go of concerns and finding blind spots in our visions.
Venus squares Uranus and conjoins Pluto on the 20th at 9:08 am and 1:07 pm (pacific), forcing us to tread carefully through this potentially disruptive conundrum. The danger is drama and misunderstandings, so own your own and look thrice before crossing any path. The upside is the potential to really get to down to brass tacks regarding how much our wish-lists reflect our present self. Look within and make adjustments now.
Mars sextiles Uranus on the 20th at 7:47 pm (pacific), frothing up a strong urge to venture head-long into the future before it’s arrived. Patience is very important, but envisioning the future could be most productive. Stay cautious and don’t skip crucial steps. But do give yourself something to look forward to.
Uranus stations direct on the 21st at 2:45 pm (pacific), leading down a path towards ‘nobody-actually-knows’; but it will be different. This will start by putting the final touches on quite a change-rich year. Hopefully this will lead to more stability, at least in the processes of change, not actual stasis. It’s all about newness, solidifying the parts we like and getting over the other parts, quickly. It’s not as urgent as it may feel, but when it’s time, it’s time.
The Sun moves into Capricorn on the 21st at 3:03 pm (pacific), giving us room to take stock and preserve the good that has come of late. It’s a good time for planning near-future projects and for getting past some old ego-hang-ups. Be patient with the speed of growth and maintain consistent effort above all else.
The New Moon is on the 21st at 5:36 pm (pacific) in 0 degrees of Capricorn. This is a pretty awesome ‘planting-new-seeds’ for long-term growth kind of lunation. The issues will be our levels of fear and reticence, or possibly over-confidence and impatience. The idea, as always, is the middle ground, and, hopefully, this lunation will help us get hold of a better map so as to navigate this elusive middle way. Fuse the mind, intuition, heart, and gut instincts.
Saturn moves into Sagittarius on the 23rd at 8:33 am, where he will stay until June 14th, before returning again from September 17th until December 19th of 2017. This will offer quick relief to those who were heavily challenged by his transit through Scorpio, but he will return, so don’t rest on any laurels. Ritual up and affirm a commitment to trying new ways of doing everything, adjusting any old trope into something more inventive and innovative. Much of this will center around changing constrictive belief systems and opening to new paradigms of conceptualization. The old ways won’t work the same on this new playing field, so begin getting used to this now. Explore it all, from shadows to light.
Mercury squares Uranus and conjoins Pluto on the 24th at 5:31 pm and 10:52 pm (pacific), pitting the mind between the urge towards full newness and the inertia of life on the other side. This is a crucial juncture for choosing different equations for assessing what is actually happening in this crazy world of ours. Take a fresh look at the whole shebang. Talk it out with trusted people, but carefully, because there is a danger of misunderstanding blowing way out of proportion. Choose wisely.
The Sun sextiles Neptune on the 26th at 7:11 pm (pacific), lending us a chance to take a break from it all, relax and unwind. What a week, what a month, what a year! Let us bathe in the ferment of it all and see what happens on the other side.
Well, we’re almost done with the year and December is here to see how well we handled it. It could be rather dangerous for those who aren’t careful, but it could also be wildly productive for those who are well-positioned with momentum and opportunities. Whatever the situation, this month calls for balance between all things, past and future, self and other, et cetera. Not that this is ever untrue, but it’s especially poignant and crucial to choose carefully. Then, all we have to do is stay open to new revelations and new paradigms and surf the waves as best we can! (Easily said, but still important).
