It is better to know some of the questions
than all of the answers.
Tips for almanac use: All the aspects can be felt in advance of the occurrence. It is good policy to view these as due dates for various energies and prepare accordingly for your context. It’s akin to bringing an umbrella with you when rain is expected, but it also helps us to not take the weather personally. When we proactively manifest these symbols then the world doesn’t have to do it for us. Choose to be con(with)-siderate(the stars).
February may be the most relaxed month we’ve seen in quite some time: Except for the very significant fact that it finds us still digesting a productive January. Oh, and of course, we should be getting ready for a hectic March and a Captain Crazy April. Any which way, the first half of the month is basically pure integration and processing of what came before. Then it gets rolling into newer territory starting on the 14th and keeps building up and changing things around until the New Moon on the 28th. So, rest first, then start working through the old to make way for lots of new.
Mercury stations retrograde on the 6th at 1:43 pm (pacific), which will last until the 28th. This gives us a chance to clean out some past confusion in order to clear the path to a more inspired future. Let us begin by flushing old lingering feelings downstream, followed by some time in meditation. Starting on the 12th, the focus shifts more to revising our future visions. Stay open.
The Sun squares Saturn on the 11th at 11:57 am (pacific), pushing us to get over some supposed needs and expectations and get down to brass tacks. It’s a chance to find re-inspiration regarding the things we actually have to do, or have already committed to doing. Don’t bemoan the work left to do, stay on the step by step program.
Mercury backs into Aquarius on the 12th at 7:30 pm (pacific), where he will stay until March 17th. Now we have a chance to let go of former futures and bring our visions into cleaner alignment with where we are now. The idea is also to avoid hyper-idealized quests or the disillusionment on the other side. Stay focused on the middle ground and keep moving.
The Full Moon is on the 14th at 3:53 pm (pacific) in 26 degrees Leo. This one pits our minds against our needs with a dash of still-trying-to-figure-out-what-we-want. A lot is up in the air, as it should be, and big decisions should be given time to gestate. Let us take a step back from ourselves and our conundrums and try to contemplate things from a higher or looser, perspective. We may not yet know what’s developing, but we can strive to sense the growth.
The Sun trines Mars on the 14th at 6:06 pm (pacific), sponsoring some impatience with our levels of progress, or, better, giving us some gusto to keep striking while the iron is hot. It may be best to just focus on reconnecting with ourselves and putting aside what everybody else wants and demands. Feel into your heart flames.
Mercury conjoins the Sun on the 15th at 12:22 pm (pacific), opening the doors to a closer relationship between our minds and our hearts. This supports the practice of just being instead of trying to figure it all out. In fact, it’s more of an un-figuring, unweaving, disentangling sort of process; meant to clear the deadwood from our beings. But we must of course choose to let go.
Mercury trines Mars on the 16th at 12:19 am (pacific), potentially bringing up some lingering frustrations. If the air needs to be cleared with someone, do it most carefully and judiciously. Within us, we can keep trimming things off of the desires list, or recalibrate ones that could use attention. Keep planning.
The Sun moves into Pisces on the 18th at 10:00 am (pacific), asking us to relax into art, music and beauty, to fill ourselves up with the mysterious. Keep in mind, however, that some other pressing issues may need to be addressed first, so let us not indulge in avoidance or escapism. Do the work and then ‘turn off your mind, relax and float downstream.’
Mercury squares Saturn on the 18th at 11:11 pm (pacific), calling for yet more revisions of our goals and aspirations. It’s a funny mix because we need some passion and motivation, but can get daunted into inactivity if we focus our gaze too widely. Make adjustments where needed, and then take it task by task, and think of grand plans in the same manner–a series of achievable points.
The Sun conjoins Neptune on the 23rd at 10:11 am (pacific), demanding that we take a break and take some time and space to ourselves. Go for a swim, take a bath, meditate, listen to contemplative music; do something to take the mind off of the ongoing tumult. Take some deep breaths and gestate.
Venus sextiles Saturn on the 24th at 8:50 pm (pacific), hopefully bringing some resolution to the recent challenges in relationships, for more is yet to come. But if more needs to be addressed, do it with respect and appreciation. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to relax the financial fears and get trimmed down to fundamentals. Long term planning is also supported.
Jupiter squares Uranus on the 25th at 11:33 pm (pacific), bringing quite some potency to the mix–definitely electric, possibly more like lightning. It’s safer to throw some shocks to our own systems: so rebel against old beliefs, seek breakthroughs in understanding, explore individualistic needs, and release expectations. The overall focus is to become radically present, literally rooted into the Now. Whatever is in the way, get it gone. The party is now.
Mercury stations direct on the 28th at 6:00 am (pacific), marking the end of the deconstruction period and asking us to start tossing it all into a new casserole. Hopefully some room has been cleared in our consciousness and we can start letting more novel ideas into our schemes. The key is to keep approaching with new vantages, new eyes.
The Sun trines Jupiter on the 28th at 8:05 pm (pacific), offering us a juicy chance to release the old memories, beliefs, expectations, misunderstandings, unnecessary quests, and much, much more. This cannot be done with the mind alone; it has to start deeper and include the heart for this journey. Maybe meditating on former innocence can help bring it back into being.
The New Moon is on the 28th at 11:59 pm (pacific) in 10 degrees Pisces. This is asking us if we can release all the old while somehow reaching back and saving, or reinstalling, virtues of times past. It’s like sorting through old storage: can we release the old and irrelevant and the feelings that correspond while finding treasures that bring back purity lost? Remember the best, forget the rest.
So, yeah, it probably will be tougher than all this ‘easier said than done’ stuff on paper; but what else is new? The tricky part is that Mars stations retrograde on March 1st and launches us into an extremely potent period, so we had better be ready to roll by the end of the month. Sure, rest and processing are great, but it’s still no time to rest on our laurels. Hopefully we can all make the most of it and have our bags packed and ready at the launch pad by March. Pack light.
