Having a dynamite year might sound like a great thing at first, but for a lot of people, 2016 was literally like dynamite, blowing their lives into crazy transitions of all sorts (not to mention the political scene, but we won’t go there). I have friends and clients who suffered losses, weathering dramatic changes in a variety of areas. Thankfully, most of them are breathing a sigh of relief 2016 is over. So how can you position yourself to have all the positivity of creative dynamism sans the drama? Below are a few steps to remember when outlining your year and creating intentions and building habits that see their fruition.
- Express gratitude for the dynamite year that 2016 was for you. No matter what degree of difficulty or ease you had, if you can find value in the happenings (and there is always value, even if it’s hidden to us at first), your life will be enhanced. Especially is this important in order to not co-create the same lesson again in 2017. This means choosing forgiveness over resentment; compassion over judgement; understanding instead of intolerance. If you can list a few positive things that came from an unpleasant event, your frame of mind will lighten up and set the tone for co-creating more happiness, joy and prosperity in 2017.
- Validate yourself and your feelings without needing to have someone else tell you it’s ok to feel that way. Sometimes our reactions to events comes from old reactions to similar painful things we witnessed as children. Parents may have told us not to cry, or squelched our expressions, leaving old feelings trapped, and making us think we are wrong for our perceptions and feelings. This can keep us cut off from a healthy flow of emotions, which we need to build happy, well-rounded lives. Give yourself time each day to connect to the inner child within you through mediation or inner reflection. The release created by practicing this step, allows you to effectively do step 3.
- With a sense of inner peace from step 2, step 3 becomes easier as you let your mind rest on the things that you DO feel good about and the creation of more of that. For example, if you are looking for partnership, instead of feeling sad or upset at what you don’t have, let yourself feel happy when you see people in love; when you think of old lover’s or past loves imagine them happy and in new relationships. If you have a hard time doing this it means that step 2 needs a bit more practice. When you get to the space where you truly feel happy others have those things you desire for yourself, and you can want for others what you do not yet have for yourself then the Universe tends to open up doors and we step into a synchronistic flow with Life. New opportunities appear and connections we hadn’t anticipated can begin to open up for us.
Of course, these are broad steps and they require some time and attention. Much more can be discussed on the exact how-to’s for each step, and we’ll be covering that and a bit more at my Intuitive Energy Healing Workshop on Tuesday, Jan 17th, at 7pm-8:30. The topic is First Things First and it includes group energy-work and readings as well as group meditation. If you need help crafting your intentions for the year this is the class for you.
