I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back. ~Alice Walker, The Color Purple
I think May is the Month for Love–Being in Love with Life. Not that we don’t necessarily experience this state every month but May seems to accentuate feelings of profound appreciation and gratitude. Others may think of it as: better sleep month, good car care month, photo month, salad month, egg month, barbeque month, date your mate month, hamburger month, fungal infection awareness month…?
May in many parts of the world is just exquisite…if we simply take the time to notice how all of nature is reaching out to please us in what seems like an effort to attain our adoration. The love in our hearts for what Mother Nature offers only increases her efforts to feed and delight us. I see this in my garden every day; how it affects everything around the garden and beyond, including people. Their hearts open and become receptive again to the natural rhythm that pervades all things.
We would rather hug than hate, laugh than frown, sigh in deep awe of a magnificent sunset than sit in stop-and-go traffic after a day at the office but we forget. Millions of people did forget but as May is the Month of Love and Being in Love we will remember more and faster. Our goal will be to create community everywhere we go by talking to people, recognizing their gifts, their beauty and their restrained desires to love and to be. We will coax that from each other gently, softly and lovingly. May is the Month when our eyes behold more beautiful gifts that this planet offers us and all of us will respond with love, the only acceptable gift, in return.
05/2012=5 The number of change, and human potential (recognizing our gift as a collective). 5 is the number of the planet Mercury. Change happens quickly. Mercury is the messenger. What is the message? Pay attention to Mother Nature. The other side to her nature; she will reach out gently and quietly seeking our love, but if ignored too long she will reflect back to us our own lack of love. What we receive, we have given.
The three Tarot cards for May=Death XIII Transformation and rising from the ashes. Undergoing a rebirth, we are free to create with our intuitive sense. There is nothing else to inform us, no preconceived ideas, rules, regulations to which we feel we must adhere. We are as newborns; open and delighted to be here. We have no knowledge and are open (the Page of Pentacles.) Youthful, curious and willing, he inquires into existence from a different perspective and in wonder accepts that which is and is fulfilled by being. Willingness and acceptance place us in strength and confidence, Strength VIII, we assume success based upon our knowing that everything is perfect including Self. The number 8 offers us a glimpse of infinity–the self as eternal, whole and complete. The beautiful woman pats the lion. There is no struggle or sense of dominance but a shared wisdom. I am you and you are I, equal and in perfect balance–spirit and physical.
May can also be the Month of fun, frivolity and whimsical creativity—whatever brings you delight. With so much beauty happening everywhere it is difficult to prevent it from bursting forth on a regular basis! Enjoy and share your delight!
