This adorable bear is irresistible to kids of all ages! Just bend his flexible, fuzzy arms and legs until he sits up by himself, stands on his head, or holds any yoga pose you can think of!
Parents throughout the world can now bring their very own Meddy Teddy into their home, yoga studios, children’s classrooms, and community centers to share the love of their practice with all the little ones (and grownup ones too).
If you want to share your love of yoga with your kids, but you’re not sure where to start, you can read to them from the fabulously illustrated storybook “Meddy Teddy: A Mindful Yoga Journey,” by Apple Jordan.
In this charming teaching tale, Meddy Teddy wakes up early in the morning and goes outside. He meets many different animals, who teach him ten different poses including “downward dog”, “tree pose”, butterfly pose”, “crescent lunge”, “warrior two”, and “child’s pose,” to name a few.
Kids’ yoga teacher Shana Meyerson, owner of the Los Angeles based studio “Mini Yogis”, has this to say about the benefits of yoga:
“Where do I begin? Yoga teaches kids how to regulate themselves. It makes them physically, mentally and morally strong. Practicing yoga keeps your body healthy. And it gives kids self-respect and confidence that carries them through their entire lifetimes…”
There are important and numerous benefits of yoga for kids. Unlike most other physical activities for kids, yoga doesn’t only promote healthy kids through physical exercise, but also focuses on improving and helping to grow children’s minds, spirits, emotions and thoughts.
Yoga is a good focusing practise for children with attention issues, as well as being great for stress reduction.
At a time when most schools are cutting back on physical education, finding creative ways to exercise with your kids is a must! Yoga is a great exercise for kids because beginning poses are safe yet challenging, and require no special equipment.
Kids yoga allows children to become more in tuned with their bodies; when they learn that they can control their bodies, and realize that they are building strength and focus, they will have a healthier body awareness and image.
About the creators:
Meddy’s journey began in 2016 after a trip to India by three brothers inspired the creation of the Meddy Teddy plush bear. These brothers, all heart-centered and equally concerned for the health and wellness of their friends, family, and community, believed deeply that a soft, bendable, yoga-centric playmate would be a beautiful way to bring their own core belief that a mindful being is a balanced, proactive being too.
