“That we find a crystal or a poppy beautiful means that we are less alone, that we are more deeply inserted into existence than the course of a single life would lead us to believe.”
As 2020 approaches its final cycles, we will be feeling the influence of a full moon lunar eclipse on November 30 in the sign of Gemini, ushering us into the year’s final eclipse season. Now, more than ever, I find myself drawn to the beauty and majesty of the gemstone and mineral realms to help me ground, elevate, and expand my sense of purpose, self, and place. Cultivating relationships with these wise elders with whom we share our planet is a path of luminous connection to an ancient intelligence birthed over time within the body of the Earth.
Many of you will no doubt have frequented the crystal and stone displays at Paradise Found and come home with one or more in your pocket. We are captivated by their presence, shape, and color in both rough and polished forms. We adorn our bodies and homes with them and use them as allies for spiritual, mental, and physical insight and healing. The more we work with them the more we come to realize that they are far, far more than mere ‘shiny objects’; they are tangible invitations into Deep Mystery.
Over at the online Bookshop, you will find a special selection dedicated to books about crystals and stones to help you learn more about their specific properties. These four by Robert Simmons – each with full color photographs – make a brilliant beginning or valuable addition to your crystal and mineral reference library: Stones of the New Consciousness, The Pocket Book of Stones (Revised Edition), The Book of Stones: Who They Are and What They Teach (with Naisha Ahsian), and his latest – The Alchemy of Stones: Co-Creating with Crystals, Minerals, and Gemstones for Healing and Transformation.
Some of my other personal favorites include The Illustrated Crystallary: Guidance and Rituals from 36 Magical Gems and Minerals by Maia Toll with 36 oracle cards and flat-out gorgeous illustrations throughout the text by Kate O’Hara, Crystallize: The Modern Guide to Crystal Healing by Yulia Van Doren, Steps on the Stone Path: Working with Crystals and Minerals as a Spiritual Practice by Robert Sardello with an introduction by Robert Simmons, Crystal Reiki Healing and The Book of Crystal Grids by Philip Permutt, and Crystal Angels 444: Healing with the Divine Power of Heaven and Earth by Alana Fairchild and Jane Marin.
In addition to books, there are some excellent crystal and stone oracle decks available, including Crystal Mandala Oracle, Crystal Medicine Oracle, and Crystals: The Stone Deck. And – jigsaw puzzles!! The Illustrated Crystallary Puzzle: Garden Quartz (750 Pieces), Rainbow Crystals (500 Pieces), and Birthstones & the Zodiac (2 Sided, 500 Pieces).
Any of these would make terrific additions to your own library as well as special gifts for the fellow stone & crystal lovers on your holiday list.
“A leaf, a drop, a crystal, a moment of time, is related to the whole, and partakes of the perfection of the whole. Each particle is a microcosm, and faithfully renders the likeness of the world.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
