Water, the Hub of Life.
Water is its mater and matrix, mother and medium.
Water is the most extraordinary substance!
Practically all its properties are anomalous, which enabled life to use it as a building material for its machinery.
Life is water dancing to the tune of solids.
Greetings to our friends & community,
It’s early on a Sunday morning. I have been roused from sleep by the insistent metallic chirp of a brown towhee, more effective than an alarm clock as it has no snooze button. As I potter about and the activities of the day start coming into focus, I begin to hear the call of the sea. Not now, I whisper back. I have things to do, places to go, deadlines to meet—like this newsletter. Come, come I will cleanse, renew, comfort, sustain you. I will help you find a way, the way water does. I will give you strength through my soft persistence. Please remember my magic. And, so I go.
The sun is up but not overtly apparent. The horizon line between sea and sky is shrouded. The magic is there all around me and I salute it. I salute my mom, gone in form and alive in my heart, and my own salt water flows, tears merging with ocean. There it is, wave after wave: our reality is forever changing – never to become what it once was and always alive and fresh. I let the water soothe me. My view is expanded and I feel the fires burning in our part of the world and salute those who valiantly do the work of containing them. I feel the emotionally chaos and confusion of our countries political process and I let it go with the next tidal pull.
Water represents the emotional realm. The cleansing power of water be it sea, stream, lake or sinuous river is known and honored across time and cultures. Water represents the power of transition. It can move from liquid, to solid, to vapor symbolizing metamorphosis. The wisdom of water is that it takes on the form in which it is held and moves in the path of least resistance.
So with sand between my toes, my invitation to you this morning is to remember the magic of water, the glory of the sea, the freshness of the mountain spring, the reflection in a mountain lake, and the mystery of the sacred well. The next time you turn on the tap you could fall to your knees and give abundant praise for the blessing at your fingertips.
We are awash in blessings waiting for clear eyes and open hearts,
Teresa, spirit of Thule, Tucker, Huxley and all at Paradise Found
