Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
~Mary Oliver
Sweet new beginnings to one and all!
As I transition out of that dear and tender time post-holidays and pre-New Year where the pace of life slows a bit, I am filled with exhilaration and the buoyancy that the possibilities a fresh start of a new cycle brings. The work of conscious completion has occurred. The reckoning and reflection on the lessons, accomplishments, failures, the joys and sorrows, the blessings—all of it, and there have been plenty of each--have created a wide open space where the question can live.
Now, the work of the question takes over. This year I find myself particularly full of ideas, plans, and intentions ranging from the mundane to the sacred, the vast and the particular. That’s when that voice can pop up, you know the one that says “You, what army and Swiss bank account can take all that on”. Perhaps, you have your own version. That’s when I say “Hello, old friend. Hop aboard the possibility train, we are going for a ride”!
For now I am satisfied to ground and sit with the question until some of the excitement that moves me settles and comes into sharp focus. And, of course every day, every moment offers a fresh start—choose again.

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something.
