Full Moon October 29, 2012 @ 6 degrees Taurus 3:49 p.m. EDT 12:49 p.m. PDT
Strip your psyche to the bare bones of spontaneous process, and you give yourself one chance in a thousand, to make the Pass.
—William S. Burroughs
The desire for stability challenged by the need to access a deeper level of awareness. The Taurus/Scorpio axis leads us from issues of security and holding onto the past to the exhilarating experience of the unknown—what lies in the depths of the psyche. In Taurus we have just established ourselves while in Scorpio we have the need to push the limits of human behavior to discover what our essential nature is beyond the physical cycle of birth, death, rebirth and regeneration. We might not fear death so much and be so intent on acquiring tangible objects that relate to some form of permanence, if we recognized it as an aspect of duality that is as much an illusion as the body/mind as Self. There are some big issues up for consideration that this Full Moon may illuminate for us—survival, being and existence and what that looks like in any moment. It may ask us to examine our priorities in relation to our existence; that might thrust us from a place of relative insensitivity to a deeper mode of communication amongst our selves. We are capable of connections that transform and transcend all that we have experienced to this moment if we are capable of divesting our selves of self-identification. Scorpio understands a truth that relates to the nature of duality that presupposes a knowing of nonduality—the unitive.Keen perception is an exceptional quality of Scorpio. Perception leads to an understanding that bypasses thought processes as it occurs directly as a result of sensation. If we will, during this Full Moon, suspend disbelief and a need for security based upon what is known, and be open to what lies, for the most part hidden, we will create space for spontaneous glimpses of reality. At once being secure in the knowing of self as absolute, as that which doesn’t change or move. The Taurus/Scorpio axis allows us to examine everything about the physical self, the five senses, sensuality, sexuality—skin upon skin and the appreciation for the human body and its environment. Taurus is about ‘being’ here and now in material existence, present in the moment and observant without thought. Taurus then, is inner peace.Scorpio draws upon the inner peace to plunge into and experience the inner environment. The other senses come into play—psychic awareness that feels into all the nooks and crannies concealed by the skin. Merging and emerging, transforming and transcending an alchemical process that may lead us from the physical to the divine.Transiting Saturn at 2 degrees Scorpio (will strip us to the bone) approaching the Sun (4 degree separation) and opposition Moon contributes to perseverance in relation to the goal. Rather than focusing on the obstacles to attaining the goal, see the obstacles fall away through acceptance of what is. Saturn in relation to the Moon will ensure the extinguishing of patterns that may be responsible for creating apparent obstacles. This task is made easier by the opposition of Jupiter and Mars in mutable signs. Movement creates change. Provides enthusiasm for accomplishing goals, freeing the self from the confines of old structures and readily embracing new frontiers. The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is “the woman of Samaria at the ancestral well.” There is implied in this symbol a relationship of the new (Samaria was elected the New capital of the Kingdom of Israel) to the old (the ancestral well). This brings up a good point in that there is much to be valued in past experience that benefits us now. The Moon consists of instinctive patterns that may limit us but also it can reflect to us what positive things we have learned along the way. This assists us in being open to and fearless in the face of the unknown.Uranus, Pluto and Chiron still within orb of each other and this Full Moon continue the process of transformation, progression and healing that inevitably allow for new foundations to be built on a road to establishing our selves here in a harmonious and peaceful way. We have the inventiveness, the intuition and a powerful source of faith to thrust us into a new light.Venus in Libra, sextile Mercury in Sagittarius, inconjunct and square to Neptune brings us a desire for peace/harmony and balance that is supported by freedom from thought and a knowing of the truth, Mercury in Sagittarius at its best but of course aspected by Neptune establishes a certain intangible quality to the nature of what is known and guarantees no boundaries or limitations to our vision that includes a higher level of compassion. This is an exceptional Full Moon to precede the elections. It paves the way for change that will eventually serve the many. It establishes platforms for deeds that support the highest good and an expanded concept of what it means to experience existence on this planet. The benefits are tremendous. For this we can all be grateful.
