And so the ritual begins…

A collection of demo CDs has been accumulating on the “DJ Darren pile” in back. Gathering them, I head to the listening booths at the front of the store, fresh new music in hand. I am now ready for a musical odyssey.

Finding my center, I take a deep breath, and press PLAY...

This month, the hands down winner, Dream Time by Deuter. As one of our best-selling artists, I am always delighted when a new CD from Deuter crosses my path. The flavor and the melodies of Dream Time are a little different than that of my meditation albums… The way the music expresses through me has two aspects, two different ways of manifesting. I either go inside and allow the music of silence to emerge, or simply express and celebrate being alive, celebrate the beauty of being. This album is about taking reality as a dream, each melody carrying the listener through his own dream.

We all live in time and so does every piece of music. A composition is completely intertwined forever with the course of time. It is a horizontal journey which these two continue on, forever linked. There is also a vertical component, the content of the music has the ability to take the listener out of the stream of time & into a timeless realm, where the experience is totally subjective, depending on the spirit and the soul of the music.
