I Choose Breakthrough...

Greetings to our friends & community,

As we move toward the Winter Solstice, I reflect back upon the year with a full and open heart. It has been a hard year for many, perhaps you. A year for me filled with new and different and then some new and different and then some more new and different laid over a hot dry summer that seemed as though it would never end, trading shower days with the old venerable avocado tree to keep it alive. There have been quite a few “Wow, I didn’t see that coming”. There have been long stretches of feeling as though the world and I were at breakdown or breakthrough.

And so I ask myself: How do I go about my life, how do I celebrate the holidays over the collective undercurrent hum of fear and uncertainty—from politics to the environment. There it is humming, sometimes softly and at times peaking in a roar. I acknowledge it, turn to face it, invite it to my table, and get comfortable with uncertainty and see that choosing to celebrate my connectedness is more important than ever.

I gaze at the orange tree out the window flourishing despite drought. It is filled with the fruit of yesterday, dry and shriveled; the fruit of today, succulent and ripe; and the hard green fruit of tomorrow, and I am inspired that I too can contain it all and move forward in life affirming connections and love.

I choose to stalk beauty, truth and goodness

I choose kindness and generosity—to self and others

I choose discernment over cynicism

I choose breakthrough.

And, then I choose breakthrough again even when I have no idea what that means in practical terms.

And, after awhile, breakthrough chooses me.

There is something beautiful about exchanging tokens of our love and appreciation for each other and life at the end of the year. The invitation is to join us and seed something beautiful, true and good in your exchange…

I choose breakthroughs for each and every one of us.

May peace and joy surround and fill you this holiday season,

Teresa, spirit of Thule, Tucker, Huxley and all at Paradise Found
