I Have A Precious Human Life. I Am Not Going to Waste It. by Teresa Taylor

Every day, think as you wake up:Today I am fortunate to have woken up.I am alive.I have a precious human life.I am not going to waste it.

— His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama

Greetings to our friends and community,Happy 82nd Birthday to the Dalai Lama!I’ve been thinking about the Dalai Lama a lot recently. Yes, I know his birthday is coming up July 6, but there has been a deeper yearning--a yearning for the comfort from, and connection to a wise elder—a wise elder for turbulent times. I have had a hunger to touch the unflappable grace, wisdom, and calm kindness of a sane, serene, sage.I am inspired by the Dalai Lama’s commitment to equanimity. I am inspired by his engagement as a world citizen while maintaining great joy and delight. I am inspired by his light and service. I aspire to take his words and actions into my heart so that I too might embody this way of being which is now more essential than ever. And, then there is his laugh!

I have been confronted with many difficult circumstances throughout the course of my life… But I laugh often, and my laughter is contagious. When people ask me how I find the strength to laugh now, I reply that I am a professional laugher.

I plan to celebrate the Dalai Lama's 82nd birthday by continuing to build happiness and compassion in my life and the lives I touch. And, to laugh more! I think he would be pleased with that gift.In celebration,Teresa, spirit of Thule, Tucker and all at Paradise Found

It’s important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness. My own limited experience tells me it’s the development of love and compassion.— His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama
