I feel at home in my own skin. I feel a deep sense of safety.
I am prepared, yet remain open to possibilities.
I see myself with a loving, gentle gaze.
I let strong emotions flow through me, unblocked, and then I let them go.

New Moon in Cancer | Tuesday 6/28 at 7:52 p.m. PT

"The New Moon in Cancer is an inspirational time that opens up a portal to our highest intuition. Cancer's energy teaches us to feel. It encourages us to shed our armor and allow ourselves to fully experience every emotion, energetic nuance, and natural element. As the New Moon meets this energy, her home energy, it can feel like an emotional roller coaster. This New Moon can bring up intense feelings, dreams, and behaviors. Its energy makes itself known to all beings on the planet, and if we attempt to ignore it, it only amplifies in intensity.

The Moon is at ease in Cancer. This energy is where she belongs and can encourage us to find our home frequency. Our home frequency, or vibration, makes us feel at ease, fulfilled, and content within our lives. It also brings us happiness while reminding us of our true natures. When we come home to ourselves, we return to the soul—the part of us that has always been there no matter how our journey has unfolded. Our home frequency can also be thought of as our core essence. It is the most subjective place within ourselves and is known only to us. We are the only ones who can fully experience our home frequency, although it does direct our behavior and interactions with those around us."

"In the natural astrology chart that begins with Aries, Cancer rules the fourth house. Cancer is ruled by the moon and represents our instincts, emotional expression and the past. The moon in the chart is symbolic of the mother. Our expectations of the mother are to protect us and feed us. Our first impressions are within utero months before we draw our first breath.

The fourth house is a place of great vulnerability. Cancer people are very sensitive and vulnerable emotionally as their propensity for feeling emotion is exceptional-not just their own emotions but others emotions as well. Sometimes confusion occurs—is it mine or is it theirs? For this reason Cancer people want an emotional bond with others, for a sense of security, that may feel overwhelming at times.

The fourth house holds the key to eternal security when we discover that which is at the root of Being, our natural state. It is necessary to explore every crevasse of our emotional being to be free to ‘return to our natural state’; to hang in stillness without attachment to thought that distracts us. To this purpose an astrologer might examine the fourth house and all aspects to it. All clues to unravel the past on the way to Truth.

This New Moon at 7 degrees Cancer gives us opportunity to recapitulate, reflect on those moments that have created insecurity and fear and seek to release one self from such burdens. Then we move through space, unaware of it, inhabit that which is prior to time.

Nurturing Home Crystal Grid

Cancer rules the Fourth House of Home Life, which covers all aspects of our domestic lives. It is the house of nesting and nurturing, of childhood and parenting, of our deepest core emotions and beliefs.

One of the Crab's unique abilities is to carry their home on their back. They have a refuge and a home no matter where the currents of life take them. Like a crab, we are born with the ability to retreat within--We can intentionally work to make this inner space feel like home, to nurture ourselves and nourish a fundamental sense of safety and security.

"A cardinal sign, ruled by water and representing the feminine archetype, Cancer takes us back to our roots and to the playgrounds of our past. The values and virtues upon which we are raised shape who we are. Our previous experiences form patterns. In this well acquainted territory, we become adept at safeguarding ourselves and habits are formed from that place inside of us that craves familiarity + connection. At some point we must come to realize that home isn’t always a place. It’s a feeling."

Empath Protection for the New Moon in Cancer

Sensitive people are highly attuned to the beauty around them--But it takes strength to walk through the world with the dial turned all the way up on your senses. There are plenty of small actions and intentions that can serve as a buffer between ourselves and the swirl of external energies we encounter in daily life.

Sacred smoke

Protection Bundle - Sage, Palo Santo, Black Tourmaline|Paradise Found Santa Barbara

It may be helpful to cleanse yourself and your space by burning sage, to clear away negative energy, followed by burning palo santo ("sacred wood") to call in positive energy. The Protection Bundle has sage, palo santo, and a sterling silver pendant of Black Tourmaline, a well-known crystal for protection. You can also wear Black Tourmaline as a bracelet. If burning sage is not possible where you live, you can get the same cleansing benefits with Sacred Sage Smokeless Mist.

Tending your energy

You can also tend to your energetic boundaries and your aura, since a strong aura helps shield you from negative emotional, spiritual and physical energies. Add to your toolkit

Keep your feelers out, eyes and ears open for techniques and tips that other people have developed, that help them step safely out into the stream of experience, the river current of the world. You do not have to do everything they do--just hang on to the information that is most helpful for you, and if something works, write it down somewhere you won't forget, to look back on later when you need assistance.

There are many books out there if you are curious--these include The Empath's Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People, by Judith Orloff, and I Don't Want to Be an Empath Anymore: How to Reclaim Your Power Over Emotional Overload, Maintain Boundaries, and Live Your Best Life, by Ora North.

While retreating like a crab into its shell can be tempting, it is important to know when to retreat, and to do so in an intentional, regulated way--To take care of ourselves, but also stay aware of the beauty of our surroundings, and be open to change and flow.

The challenge for the New Moon in Cancer is to balance between going deep inside to know ourselves, and connecting to the world outside, gently opening, allowing and perceiving--Intentionally fostering softness and openness, knowing that therein lies our strength.
