Greetings to our friends and community,Oh, my momma must be busting her buttons out there on the other side! The daughter of a librarian’s small yet mighty bookstore is a finalist for The Santa Barbara Independent Best of 2018 award! As we specialize in, and lovingly select, books that inspire, enrich and delight rather than a broad cross section of genres, we were pleasantly surprised and delighted to get the news. Mostly, we are honored and deeply appreciative of those who thought of us and took the time to nominate us.Often, at this time of year when the voting commences we have a bit of an identity crisis. Books are the heart and soul of our humble endeavor, and yet we offer many other tools for conscious living; self exploration and development; or starting or deepening a spiritual practice. Hence, we self-describe as "Books, and more...". We feel pretty confident that if there was a category for “Best Shop Dogs” we’d be in the running! But, alas, there is not.What I do absolutely know, is that the books that we offer can change lives. They have changed mine. They have worked with me in exploring and trying to sort out the “big questions”: who am I, what’s the purpose or meaning of life/my life; how do I navigate this human experience in an awakened, kind and compassionate manner.
