The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it,move with it, and join the dance.

Fall Greetings to our friends and community,

In the soft slide from summer to winter we pass through fall. Here in Santa Barbara it is a slow, subtle shift. A time both simple in its progression to a balance of light and dark, and complex and rich in its mix of celebrating harvest, the beginnings of letting go of a year, and the coming to terms with impermanence. Fall brings the invitation to reflect on the harvest of seeds planted in a time gone by; an impulse to rebalance; a yearning to bring introspection to that which is being relinquished; and an exploration of the ways in which we are being recalibrated.

Thrown into this mix is the energy that seems soft wired in me at least of the excitement of potential that the new school year brings and a bit of crisp, clear air that challenges the wistfulness of a summer gone by. The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let dead things go. Yes indeed, it is a complex and rich time of transition and change. Transformation is afoot and hope is in the air.

My heart’s desire for us is that we may honor our journey thus far as we reflect, rebalance and recalibrate.

My heart’s desire for us is that we learn from trees how lovely it is to let go of the worn out and dead things in our lives.

My heart’s desire for us is that we set our intention to ride this transition in powerful and sacred ways.
