Full Moon April 25th, 2013 @ 5 degrees Scorpio 3:57 p.m. EDT 12:57 p.m. PDT
Shiver Me Timbers! The phrase is based on real nautical slang and is a reference to the timbers, which are the wooden support frames of a sailing ship. In heavy seas, ships would be lifted up and pounded down so hard as to “shiver” the timbers, startling the sailors. Such an exclamation was meant to convey a feeling of fear and awe, similar to, “Well blow me down!” or, “May God strike me dead”.
Come on ye Scallywags’ break out yar cannon’s Shiver me timbers!
An apt phrase to describe this Full Moon. The configuration of Sun conjunct Mars in opposition to the Moon conjunct retrograde Saturn creates an interesting dynamic of potential aggressive and powerful energy determinedly battling for what seems like the highest good in relation to deeply submerged fears and resistance to the outward expression of that power, strength and willfullness. Enough tension to splinter the wood and fell the top sails!
On the one hand there is a desire to be secretive, to maintain control, by all means to hide any emotional insecurities (and there will be a few arising); like little whitecaps on the waves, cresting and sinking, our fears twitch and die. The warrior (Popeye J) surges forward, denying even, the existence of phantoms. While being required to overcome—desire (Wimpy and his appetite) and weakness (Olive Oyle inadvertently becoming a ghost her self). Jacob wrestling the Angel that in some accounts is thought to be Jesus wanting to give to human beings the knowing of Self that is, regardless of the egos notion of death. The only thing that desists is the physical form. And it might be that the mind persists after the body is no longer functioning a notion that is substantiated by the many experiences of communication with those who are no longer in their bodies. It appears that we continue to pursue inner peace with the advantages of clarity not available to many people in physical form.
The addition of Neptune aspecting the Sun/Mars and Moon/Saturn provides release from the tension of this polarity. Neptune in Pisces is an energy we have been accustomed to since 2011—profound journey to what ultimately serves the highest good. Neptune heightens awareness, offers through profound stillness an opportunity for “knowing” Self by apparently plunging one into unknowing, the place where there is nothing to hold onto, no thing that provides a reference point and no thing by which to identify the self. The illusionary quality attributed to Neptune is a reverse of truth. What is considered real is the illusion while the reality lies within the unknowing that =knowing. This is automatically embedded once the nature of duality, as described at this Full Moon, is recognized.
We tremble, afraid of bursting the bubble while all the while being quite, and willingly, incapable of stopping our selves. Black Moon Lilith at 8 degrees Gemini within 3 minutes of exact quincunx to Saturn—resistance to communication of the Self—experiencing the Self—is futile. Despite the conventional nature of a Sun/Mars conjunction, aggression is not necessary to bring about the type of shift inherent in this lunar event. Those tendencies are being eradicated by much more powerful energies distributed by planets “weightier” than what represents the conscious and emotional self. The outer planets are all engaged in creating change regardless of individual “doings”. Pluto/Uranus are in square, an ongoing situation. Saturn is involved as described and relates to Pluto and Uranus. We may desire to exhibit personal will but attempts may accumulate around our feet as glimpses of the big picture fracture our delicate sense of what our beliefs hold to be true.
Sweet Venus in its own sign of Taurus might suggest a dalliance with personal pleasure but such indulgence may end up being bitter sweet as we recognize the importance of another level of participation here—all for the good so to speak. Nothing happens here that we do not want. Wherever you are and whatever you find your self doing, is perfect. There are no mistakes. When the tension between opposing forces is dissolved through the recognition that it has never really existed in the first place, only in my mind, peace prevails and we awaken to our intrinsic nature, “that” and are free.
“Mind and ideas are the factors of your ‘wrong’ identity. The “individual” confines himself to the limits of the changeful body or of the mind—which derives existence from the unchanging Self. All that is necessary is to give up this mistaken identity; and that done, the Self will be seen to be the single, nondual Reality. (Ramana Maharshi quote from Always only One by Robert Wolfe, Living Nonduality)
We have the ability to create fantastic stories that offer us many pleasures and establish us in physical reality. They perpetuate the illusion that I exist separately from that which is my true nature. No bother on us when we subsequently are not inclined to attach our selves to these tales. Attachment results in suffering, many times, perpetuating the cycle that represents human experience. And, that is okay too. We do tend to become addicted to the drama. So be aware of the tendencies for flamboyant expression that might color your own life. It isn’t bad, no judgment, but there is an alternative that is peace.
Thank you for your participation, in whatever form that takes! It is all an expression of “that” and loving and beautiful by its very nature!
