Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shallharness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
new moon

There are five planets in Aries beginning April 8th as the moon enters the first sign. With its conjunction to Uranus on the 9th we are thrust into the wall of flames that surround our deepest desire. As Aries is the sign that ‘seeks my Self’ a feverish attention to personal gain, on one level or another that could be thought of as selfish and indulgent may flourish during these few days before and after this New Moon. This Self consideration however will be, on the contrary, the source of realization for those people for whom the fire can only be extinguished through immersing one self in “that”. Nothing else will suffice as freedom is the reward.“Number one is this strong, burning desire for freedom. If your clothing catches fire and there is a river nearby, you run straight towards the river. If you meet someone on the way who says, ‘Come and have a cup of coffee,’ you ignore him. Nothing will distract you because your desire to extinguish your burning takes precedence over everything else.”—Papaji (Sri H.W.L Poonja), to a studentExpect to be so single-mindedly focused that distractions of any kind may be a cause of irritation; like a tiny pebble lodged between the sock and inside of the shoe. These disturbances will not go away however and part of the necessary attention to one’s Self includes understanding the nature of the self (a tiny pebble), that which exists in duality. It will pursue until it no longer has the energy to do so whereupon it will be obvious that the fittest do survive and that a zealous drive easily separates illusion from truth. Rather than conflict, peace abides. In war is peace and in peace we find everything we have ever experienced.Mars dominating the skies until the 20th of April when Sun and Mars have transitioned into Taurus (Venus on the 15th) is time enough to discover what ardor applied to a goal can achieve, this with the help of Mercury also in Aries from the 13th. The mind afire blazes with receptivity to the unknown—for Aries much is unknown and waiting to be discovered, the Self always here and waiting patiently as the search continues! The effects of the New Moon are not discussed nearly as frequently as the Full Moon. The reason for this is due to the subtle energy effused by a thing invisible. What we do not see draws far less attention. For example, we are greatly absorbed by what we see and touch. For all of these things we have allotted names that have contributed to a framework that defines our existence here. Least of all do we expect that what is tangible to us has the least reality as it changes and is impermanent. The ‘invisible’ Self, that which is always, does not require light to be seen though it is the light nor does it require shape to be known though it is that. Our fascination for a Full Moon comes perhaps from our ability to see clearly what is there and yet applies only to the surface of the object. In the New Moon there is only conjecture, so we may think, however, even though we do not see the moon, we know it to be there. We know the Self, how could we not. It only requires that we ‘step out of’ the many beliefs that create adhesion to a story that is not true, whatever that story may be. And we have stories that have informed human beings for a very long time. All of them an attempt to create something where there was nothing; a set of rules and regulations meant to explain to us how to behave in a state of being outside of our true Self.If Mars, in a frenzied quest for dominance, wrestles anything to the ground let it be the illusion that I am anything but “that” and “that” is what is left when whatever can be identified with words is seen to be not “that” but merely an object that dissolves in time. The New Moon symbolically speaking is Self-immersion and whilst in the sign of Aries offers a dynamic opportunity for the glimpse within the glimpse within the thought-less pure energy of source. The unreal devoured, consumed by the moment in which ‘it’ sees itself as a projection and without substantiation. The heat may become unbearable for some. It may appear that even a river will not quench the flames. What becomes quite clear is that when we are ready to be in stillness rather than seething in hell it shall come to pass. The only thing that keeps us inured to suffering is our hopeless need for clinging to the past. Bring it here and it is. Let it go and it is not! Aries is open, new and does not have a past to cling to…and with Saturn, Pluto, Chiron, Uranus and Jupiter all aspecting one another, there is wave upon wave arriving to cleave us from our memories or the desire to perpetuate the story that has driven us to madness and mayhem. Though it is Spring and our tendency may be to sew wild oats with reckless abandon, may our new levels of Self awareness inspire us to spontaneous acts of compassion and audacious, prolonged moments of radiance such as the ones provided us by powerfully creative individuals. Music video: Rachmaninov, piano concerto no. 3. Born 04.01.1873 Sergei Rachmaninov has Sun, Chiron, Mercury and Neptune in Aries. Mars is in Scorpio quincunx Chiron an indication that the energy behind the expression of his gifts has a rare and powerful source. The pianist, Olga Kern born 04.23.1975 has Jupiter and Chiron in Aries. The expression of her creativity is clearly channeled from the same place.
